Juice Fast Day Four – Feeling Good And Ready For More

Day four of my juice fast went pretty well. My energy level was about normal, and we’re starting to get the hang of this juicing business. Amy is a whiz a making healthy stuff taste good, and she’s working her butt off to make some clever recipes that keep me from making that goofy ick face. She’s come up with some great ones and writing them down, so we can share them soon.

Randy’s Juice Fast – Day 4

Morning check in:

  • Body Fat – 18%
  • Weight – 203 lbs - Lean 166.46 lbs – Fat 36.54 lbs
  • BMI – 26.8

Nightly Assesment:

  • Headaches – None, no Aleve for two days
  • Sleep – Not too good
  • Energy – Energy is back to normal
  • Joint pain – Pretty sore after running previous day
  • Chest pain – None
  • Sciatica – Pretty quiet
  • Stamina – Didn’t workout, but had good energy playing with the kids outside
  • Motivation – Very good, getting the hang of juice fasting
  • Hunger – Less hungry today, slow and steady consumption helps

This might sound funny, but I’m hoping the weight loss will slow down a bit. Dropping over a pound of fat in one day is okay, but I don’t want to lose too much lean weight. I’m afraid if I drop too fast that I’ll bounce back up like a superball when this juice fast is finished. I’m sure it will slow down as my body adapts to the new diet, and I’m going to increase my juice intake as well. Hopefully things will level off tomorrow.

I totally screwed up on water. I mentioned to Amy that I was getting bloated, and she pointed out that lots of fiber with not enough water equals one big colon cork! I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but lets just say a big glass of prune juice and a bunch of water make an effective corkscrew. Lesson learned, if you do a juice fast… drink your water!

As the excitement of trying something new wears off, the cravings are creeping in. Amy made some grilled turkey and onion sandwiches for dinner last night, and I stumbled across a left over one in the fridge. I had a vivid image of snatching it up and commando crawling out the backdoor and into the bushes where I could devour it undetected. Very tempting… it took a lot of juice to wash away that day dream!

Cravings aside, I wasn’t too terribly hungry. As long as the juice keeps flowing, both my hunger and energy stay in check. Like I said yesterday though, if much more than an hour goes by between meals, I can really start to feel it.

All in all, day four was a good day. Still a few unusual energy dips but nothing too dramatic. Looking forward to a good night’s sleep and whatever day five brings.
