Life Is Picky And Getting Tricky

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve been in such a slump the past week or so I just may kick my own a$$… There, I said it. I have purged the blah’s and am moving onto a better attitude. :)

You know how it is. You start off the New Year feeling pumped and ready for anything. Once your plans fall into place and results start coming in, you’re feeling great, and it’s all excitment over everything everywhere. Then the month of January ends, Februaury creeps in, the full scale of winter gets sickening, and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner which = sweet, chocolaty, decadent, treats everyplace. Then, the blah’s come knocking, the boring blahs of being … well, blah. This has been the pattern for me, and it occurs with almost anything I start new that requires long term commitment like my health and diet.

For those of you who do not know, I “rebooted” my system this January with a juice fast along with plans to continue onto a more plant based diet while putting my fitness abilities to the test. The juice fast went really well, eating a plant based diet has been not as hard as I thought but getting less exciting, and the fitness part has all been but started = yikes and pulling out my hair! I am soooo frustrated.

Let me explain a few things: Eating a plant based diet has been appealing, and I’m really enjoying it. AND, if I was a single person, no wait, if Randy and I didn’t have so many little people (I’d just become the food natzi again and make Randy eat it, lol), I do think it would be much, much, much easier for me in the kitchen. The kids have been really good sports about trying new foods, and we’ve made great strides in the past month. I mean, come on, Charlie eats broccoli over french fries now, lol…. It’s just that more often than not, I find myself making Mommy’s food, adjusting a bit of Daddy’s food, and then easing the kid’s plates just a little bit more onto the plant side of the pyramid. This makes some extra work for Mommy.

I know it’s a good thing, and changing the way we eat as a family will take time, but………………….. I WANT TO JUST BUY THE CHEF BOYARDEE AND HAVE DINNER IN 15 MINUTES – LOL! Ok, seriously, I deserve a beating for shouting such sanity…

Ahhhhh, sorry. Life is getting tricky. ;)

birthday cake

Randy's Angel Food Birthday Cake

As for The Season of the Birthday’s, well… We are down 2: Little Randy’s and Daddy/Randy’s. But, we have in 2 weeks to come Charlie’s 7th, and then in the following 2 weeks the baby’s 2nd. It’s a lot of party foods and sweet treats (I’m not as hard core as Madonna and do allow sugar in the house, lol). I have a plan, though, to mix in the healthy foods with the cake and ice cream, and I’m not going to make any Valentine’s Day treats this year. I do love to make pretty, pink, party food too. :(

All this partying isn’t condusive to my plant eating plan you know? Lol… It’s kinda bummin me out. And then all the busyness of the parties and planning, extra cooking and shopping, list making, children with school and traveling and getting into the swing of being a military mom is just eating my brain! So I must confess, I have like only worked out once since post juice fast! AHHHHHH! Terrible confession, lol….. There just never seems to be a right time, or when there is time it’s interupted, or I have other obligations….

bucket garden starting

Our Bucket Garden Seedlings

Waah waah waah, whine whine whine, lol…. Ok, I’m done and this is what I’m going to do about it (I’m an action kinda goyel). In order to regain more excitement and motivation about eating more plants, the kids and I planted seeds over the past weekend, so we may start our own “Bucket Garden” (it’s what we’re going to call it). Jody and Charlie will help me nuture our little plants and protect them from the baby until it’s time to plant them outside. We’re going to reuse a bunch of 5 gallon pails and decorate them in a fun kid friendly way. It’s going to be a lot of fun and hopefully, will provoke Charlie to try green peppers.

compost

Our Bucket Garden Compost

For now, we are starting out simple with just tomatoes, bell peppers, and hanging strawberry baskets – not sure how that will turn out, but if it does, awesome! Jody HAD to have flowers, and it seems only right to indulge her. She found “Goblin” flowers that are perfect for our hot, sunny FL weather. I’m sure she had to have this package of flower seeds souly based on the name. Randy reads her a ton of fantasy books and stories. Really, I’m sure she couldn’t resist and is probably hoping for them to sprout real goblins.. If they do, I’m NOT cooking for them too!

And as for the fitness part well better said more like the lack of it, I’m going into warrior mode. I’m going to strap an alarm to my arm and set it on vibrate so I don’t wake the baby. I am going to get my draggin butt out of bed at 4:45am and head to the garage and just friggen do it! And, I don’t care if I wake Randy, lol… HE forgot to wake me up THIS morning!

And that’s the plan, my plan to get it back in gear for the year and reach awesomeness! – as my oldest would put it, lol…

Over for now and not so blah for later,
Amy

Well I recently watched the documentary and wow it was so very inspiring. I am fat, sick and almost dead, so today is the first day of my 30 day fast. I am six foot tall 340lbs I do work out and have been for about a month consistently. Been to the doc and other than the weight and the back pain, joint pain things are ok. So today is that day for me I will attempt the 30 day fast and go from there.

    Day 1 is almost over.
