Our very first post is about how Oatmeal and Orange Juice make a Superfood in order to help you out with the first thing you deal with every day. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day by far. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns I love them all, but we also know that these things need to be enjoyed in moderation. So here’s my tip for a quick, satisfying and inexpensive breakfast that actually turns out to be a superfood.
I’ve had oatmeal and orange juice for breakfast several times per week for years and never knew it, but it turns out that eating these two food together doesn’t just give you the good nutrients from each, but they amplify each other and together become a superfood!
What Makes Oatmeal and Orange Juice a Superfood?
Why is that? Well, the nutrients found in this superfood work synergistically and they double the normal benefits you’d get from just adding their powers together. Oatmeal contains phenols and orange juice contains a lot of vitamin C both of which help stabilize LDL. And that’s a very good thing, because the more stable your LDL, the less likely it is to rupture, stick to artery walls and cause heart attacks.
Boost Your Oatmeal and Orange Juice Superfood Breakfast
I like to take it a step further and add some flax seed and raisins which add in a boost of HDL and antioxidants, but they also bump up the calories so be careful of over doing it. You could throw in some chopped nuts for the HDL benefits and some fruit for variety, but again just be careful about the calories you add. If you’re like me you can also throw in a bit of unrefined brown sugar to sweeten it up just a bit (not too much though). Follow all that up with a shot of wheatgrass and you have a kick ass superfood breakfast that is quick, tasty and cheaper than most boxed cereals.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new superfood breakfast!
